Air handling unit construction materials
Constructed as a pentapost rigid closed section in marine grade aluminium alloy, the frame's high density and lightweight structure ensures a strong and rigid framework for the AHU. Panels feature perimeter inner and outer seals designed to seat on to the pentapost section, thereby preventing air leakage within the air handling unit irrespective of the prevailing pressure conditions.
Indeed, all units are tested to withstand 2,000 pa under negative and positive pressure applications.
The closed section framework provides air gap insulation within the cavity while the unit panels are insulated with a 25mm or 50mm double skin. The layered effect achieved by the highly durable polyamide-coated 22g aluminium outer skin and 18g galvanised steel inner skin adds strength while also protecting internal components. Selected for its excellent resistance to atmospheric agents, weathering, UV, salt spray and abrasion, the polyamide coating is more durable than Polyester, PVC or Plasticol coatings. Special finishes are available for pharmaceutical and medical applications and to meet the requirements of other regulated environments.
To make the panels light yet give them high integral strength, insulation is bonded to the inner and outer panels. Depending on the application, panel insulation is either high density CFC-free cellular foam, in accordance with the latest Montreal Protocol requirements; or high-density mineral wool slab. This panel and frame construction not only offers excellent insulation properties, but also results in low noise transmission. |
